[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday as the weak yen remained under pressure on market expectations for a US interest rate hike next month.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.39 per cent, or 70.68 points, to 18,038.09, while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.49 per cent, or 7.03 points, at 1,435.49.
