[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Friday as the stronger yen raised concerns for Japan's exporters, despite a positive lead from Wall Street and higher oil prices.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange slipped 0.31 per cent, or 52.63 points, to 16,883.75 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index fell 0.33 per cent, or 4.42 points, to 1,354.55.
