Tokyo: Stocks open lower on stronger yen

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday after five days of gains as exporters fell with the yen firming against the US dollar.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which closed at its best level in a year, lost 0.41 per cent, or 78.12 points, to 19,076.91 in the first few minutes.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.45 per cent, or 6.84 points, to 1,524.59.
