Tokyo: Stocks open slightly higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened modestly higher Monday as investors digested North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's announcement that he would halt nuclear tests and intercontinental missile launches.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.07 per cent or 16.53 points to 22,178.77 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.25 per cent or 4.40 points at 1,755.53.
