Tokyo: Stocks reach new 12-week high

[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark stock index closed at a fresh 12-week high Thursday as investors cautiously await the release of Japanese growth data and a central bank policy meeting next week.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange ticked up a marginal 0.03 percent, or 6.38 points, to 19,697.77, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares dipped 0.11 per cent, or 1.75 points, to 1,593.57.
