US: S&P hits record at open

[NEW YORK] The S&P 500 hit a record high at open on Tuesday, led by gains in technology stocks and ahead of a confirmation hearing for Federal Reserve chair nominee Jerome Powell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 51.43 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 23,632.21. The S&P 500 gained 5.03 points, or 0.193356 per cent, to 2,606.45. The Nasdaq Composite added 12.33 points, or 0.18 per cent, to 6,890.85.
