Brocade bets its future on new networks

CEO Lloyd Carney says existing networks have not changed in 20 years and cannot cope with today's social and cloud driven demands

    TECHNOLOGY is undergoing a major transition because of social media, mobile computing, cloud services, and Big Data analytics, a transition which research agency IDC calls the "Third Platform", following mainframes (first platform) and client/server computing (second platform).

    According to IDC, the third platform is built on mobile devices, cloud services, social technologies, and Big Data and will push innovation and growth.
