Dragon Wealth's app apt for banks
Tablet app from startup reveals live benchmarks of how investors' portfolios are faring against their peers, reports VICTORIA HO
BANKS have traditionally relied on relationship managers to push products but, as the average investor gets more savvy, the bank's ability to hold their trust declines, said Bert-Jan van Essen, former Credit Suisse private banking Asia-Pacific CIO (chief information officer).
A panel of former top banking executives are betting that an iPad app revealing live benchmarks of how users' portfolios are faring against peers will pave a new way of connecting with users.
Together with former Credit Suisse director Dana Ritter, Mr van Essen has founded a start-up called Dragon Wealth to build that app to sell to banks. Daniel Ott, former global CIO for Credit Suisse private banking and the current CIO for UBS Switzerland, is the chairman of Dragon Wealth.
