Microsoft-Nokia's 'humble' strategy

It backs rivals' services even as it builds its own user base, reports VICTORIA HO

WHILE Androids and Apple continue to clash in the smartphone arena, Microsoft and Nokia are bending over backwards to play well with everyone, in the hopes of boosting the Windows Phone's far smaller market share.

Chris Weber, executive vice-president of sales and marketing for Nokia told BizIT that the company, which for the past three years has been building Windows Phones together with Microsoft, continues to pour resources into developing its app and services ecosystem.

This includes courting third party developers to make apps for its platform that will persuade users to consider Windows Phones among the gamut of choices, which include Apple iPhones and the range of Android phones out there.
