SAMSUNG Electronics Co is recalling its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones because of a faulty battery and announced a global replacement programme - with this coming just days before rival Apple Inc is set to unveil its newest iPhones.
Sales will be halted in 10 countries, including Singapore, where the large-screen device has been released, said Koh Dong Jin, head of Samsung's mobile division, on Friday. He also apologised for the battery problem, which has been linked to the phone exploding when it is charging.
