ST Telemedia data centre unit acquires stake in UK's Virtus
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (GDC) now counts Virtus Data Centres as a subsidiary after buying Brockton Capital's entire stake in the target.
The purchase price was undisclosed.
Virtus, a UK-based data centre provider, is already part of the ST Telemedia GDC network, which comprises more than 50 data centres in key economic hubs. ST Telemedia GDC is the data centres arm of ST Telemedia, a Temasek-linked information technology and communications investment company.
Virtus currently operates a co-location platform with four facilities, and has announced plans for two new facilities near Stockley Park.
"We are seeing a burgeoning demand for co-location in the UK and European data centre market, and there is no better time than now to expand our presence there supporting our customers' growth plans," ST Telemedia GDC chairman Sio Tat Hiang said in a statement. "The acquisition reflects our commitment and continued confidence in the key UK and European economies. Through this acquisition, we hope to further cement our footprint in the UK, as well as accelerate growth for both ST Telemedia GDC and Virtus."
