Traditional security tools still vital: WatchGuard
ADVANCED Persistent Threats (APTs) and other sophisticated malware have caught the attention of many, especially as online attacks using traditional methods continue to afflict businesses almost daily.
For this reason, Joe Wang, CEO of WatchGuard Technologies, believes traditional security tools relying on blacklisting or other signature-based technologies will continue to be relevant and play an important role in combating cyber threats.
Speaking to BizIT, Mr Wang acknowledged that APTs are "quite hot" at the moment given that such attacks appear on headlines once every week. That, however, is as far as he would go in agreeing with the assessment of another security vendor, who earlier asserted that the existing security model is broken.
