US spying on cellphones from the sky: report

Aim is to detect handsets associated with criminals or those suspected of crimes

US justice officials are scooping up mobile phone data from unwitting Americans as part of a sophisticated airborne surveillance programme designed to catch criminals, according to a report by TheWall Street Journal.
