Breaking Taboos
Douglas Young wants to take his Hong Kong cult lifestyle brand Goods of Desire (G.O.D.) international.
FOR two decades now, trained architect-turned-designer Douglas Young has been the face of Hong Kong cult lifestyle brand G.O.D. (Goods of Desire).
As co-founder and CEO, he has brought the brand from its nascent days in a warehouse selling mainly furniture to its current status as a household name in the city producing a range of goods melding Hong Kong tradition and culture - including Cantonese profanity - with modern practicality.
But his years at the helm could soon come to an end if Mr Young were to have his way - he feels it could be time to "shift gears" and sell a stake in the company to a bigger name that can then help bring it online and international.
