24 charged with rioting, another eight arrested
They face up to seven years' jail and possibly caning if found guilty
[SINGAPORE] Two dozen Indian nationals were charged in court yesterday for their alleged involvement in the Little India riot on Sunday night.
Aged between 22 and 40, they were among the 28 individuals arrested soon after the riot. The remaining four were released yesterday as police investigations showed they were not involved in the fracas.
Separately, the police yesterday told reporters that they had arrested eight more Indian nationals in connection with the incident, and listed the actions they would take to beef up security in Little India and beyond.
