AirAsia X shares fall on the back of higher Q2 loss
THE shares of AirAsia X fell by slightly more than 6 per cent to 77 sen yesterday, as the budget carrier missed estimates by a mile as a result of higher operating expenses and another steep decline in yields.
The net loss of the airline, AirAsia's long-haul counterpart, widened to RM129 million in the second quarter to end June from RM32.3 million.
For the cumulative six months, its core net loss was nearly RM211 million, a sum Affin Investment Bank said was "grossly below both street and our expectations."
