Critic warns govt against interfering in Petronas
VETERAN Malaysian journalist Abdul Kadir Jasin yesterday warned the government against interfering in the financial affairs of national oil firm Petronas, following the oil major's promotion up the ranks of the annual Fortune 500 list.
Mr Kadir, a former New Straits Times group editor-in-chief and an occasional critic of Prime Minister Najib Razak, wrote in a blog posting yesterday that he hoped that Petronas, ranked 69th on Fortune's 2014 list, would continue to be successful without interference from the government.
It was reported on Tuesday that Petronas had jumped 10 notches up from last year; it had been in 95th position in 2008.
