Crossover Project had to 'appear as independent'
[SINGAPORE] "The point about the Crossover Project is that if you are trying to have an outreach strategy to convert people, they shouldn't be able to know that it's part of a church mission."
That was supposedly why the project appeared to be distinct from City Harvest Church (CHC) and gave some the impression that it was set up just to promote Sun Ho's music career.
This was part of the testimony tendered in court yesterday by CHC board member John Lam - the first of six church members accused of criminal breach of trust to take the stand in the high-profile trial. It marks the beginning of the defence's case and the 47th day of a hearing that began in May 2013.
