MOH: No suspected case of Ebola in S'pore

[SINGAPORE] Following reports yesterday that the first suspected Ebola victim has been identified in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has released an official statement assuring the public that Singapore remains Ebola- free.

According to The Straits Times, the suspected victim - a Nigerian woman in her 50s believed to have flown into Singapore recently - arrived at Gleneagles Hospital's emergency department yesterday morning with complaints of a fever. She was then identified as a suspect of Ebola and sent to the Communicable Diseases Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) immediately after being isolated.

In response, an MOH spokesman said: "The MOH wishes to clarify that there is no suspect case of Ebola in Singapore at present. The case in question was indeed referred to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, but she does not fit the case definition."
