P&W to remain focused on narrow body aircraft
[SINGAPORE] Aero engine giant Pratt & Whitney (P&W) will remain focused on narrow body aircraft in the short term, with larger aircraft a "longer-term opportunity", the company's president, Paul Adams, said.
In an interview with The Business Times yesterday, Mr Adams said that P&W's PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines for smaller planes were doing extremely well, with a backlog of over 5,000 orders across six aircraft platforms. Aircraft that will use those engines include the Airbus A320neo, Embraer E-Jets and the Mitsubishi Regional Jet.
Mr Adams said: "One of the big challenges is that we are actually having to ramp up production to meet those increased volumes."
