SGX to launch options on iron ore and freight futures

It's already a dominant player in iron ore, but room for more growth: industry players

[SINGAPORE] In a move that will further strengthen its position in the iron ore market, the Singapore Exchange (SGX) will introduce options on its futures for iron ore and freight by next month, and launch coking coal swaps and futures in July.

That same month, it will also expand its current thermal coal product suite.

This will enable SGX to provide a unique offering, said its CEO, Magnus Bocker.

"The ability to clear iron ore, coking coal and steel products together on one single platform and in the Asian time zone will mean more margin savings…
