43 firms part of Singapore's Travel Smart Network
Singapore
NO employers have dropped out of the Travel Smart Network initiative since it was launched last July and to date, a total of 43 organisations have signed up, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said on Tuesday.
In a written reply to a question about the Land Transport Authority's initiative to encourage more companies to allow staff to travel on public transport during off-peak periods, Mr Lui said that the 43 organisations include 12 which participated in the pilot before the launch of the Travel Smart Network. "In a survey of about 3,800 employees of the 12 pilot companies, about 12 per cent of respondents said that they had shifted their travel out of the morning peak period of 8.30am to 9.00am," said the minister.
