Changi passenger traffic steady, cargo posts gain
Aug traffic dips 0.6% as airlines cut flights; 4.1% cargo growth is the highest this year
[SINGAPORE] Passenger traffic at Changi Airport dipped slightly in August, although air cargo traffic expanded by 4.1 per cent year on year in the highest rate of growth posted so far this year.
According to figures released by Changi Airport Group (CAG), the airport saw 4.65 million passenger movements during the month, down 0.6 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago. This comes after passenger traffic expanded by one per cent in July, and declined by 0.3 per cent in June.
In August, aircraft landings and takeoffs were lower by 4.2 per cent at 28,360, as regional carriers have been tempering capacity growth amid overcapacity in the region and weaker travel demand for certain markets.
