COEs cut for all five categories for next three months
THERE will be one-tenth fewer certificates of entitlement (COEs) from next month onwards, as less deregistrations and more revalidations combined to reduce the supply of COEs.
The Land Transport Authority announced on Tuesday that the COE quota for August-October 2016 will be 25,843, or 10.6 per cent smaller than the preceding May-July 2016 quota.
All five COE categories will see a cut in numbers for the next three months.
Category A - for cars below 1,600 cc or 130 hp - will have 4,016 COEs per month, down 9.4 per cent.
Cat B - for cars above 1,600 cc and 130 hp - get 2,672 COEs each month, or an 8.6 per cent reduction.
Cat E - the open category whose premium currently tracks Cat B's - has a larger adjustment of 16.6 per cent or 857 COEs every month.
Cat C - for goods vehicles and buses - gets a monthly allocation of 350 COEs for an even bigger 23.2 per cent fall.
Cat D - for motorcycles - will have 718 COEs a month, down 9.6 per cent.
