LAST week, the focus was very much on safety. International Maritime Organization (IMO) secretary-general Kitack Lim, on his first visit to Singapore as IMO head, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural International Safety@Sea Conference.
The conference was a key element in this year's Safety@Sea Week. Mr Lim spoke of key priorities and polices in the areas of maritime safety, particularly the importance of building a safety-first culture throughout the global shipping community.
Over 30 international speakers and industry specialists from different sectors of the maritime industry came together at the conference to share best safety at sea practices with more than 350 local and international participants.
