SIA and CAAS launch 'green package' flights to help curb emissions

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) are working together on a series of 12 "green package" flights on the carrier's non-stop San Francisco-Singapore route as a commitment to the global effort to curb aviation emissions.
The "green package" flights, which will take place over a three-month period, combine the use of biofuels and optimised flight operations.
The first of the 12 flights, SQ31, departed San Francisco at 11.21am on May 1 and landed successfully in Singapore at 7.10pm on May 2 with 206 passengers onboard. SIA operates the direct flight using the fuel-efficient Airbus A350-900.
