AGAINST a backdrop of softer visitor arrivals, SilkAir has signed a S$2 million memorandum of understanding (MOU) with global travel distributor GTA to work together on marketing efforts aimed at driving traffic to Singapore.
Daryl Lee, GTA's regional vice-president of sales and marketing for the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, noted that with increasing competition from neighbouring destinations, visitors to Singapore had fallen 3.1 per cent to 15.1 million last year, the first drop since 2009.
