[SEOUL] South Korean President Park Geun-Hye promised on Thursday that the sunken Sewol ferry would be raised "at the earliest possible date" - acceding to a key demand of the victims' relatives.

"I will take the necessary steps to salvage the ship at the earliest possible date," Park said during a visit to the southern island of Jindo to mark the first anniversary of the Sewol disaster that claimed 304 lives.
