Upgrading in store for 17 MRT stations
PLATFORMS at 17 MRT stations along the North-South Line and East-West Line are on track to become more spacious.
The platforms in these stations will be reconfigured through a range of upgrading works, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement on Monday.
Out of the 17 stations, 11 will have platform-level voids covered over. These are Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Eunos, Khatib, Lakeside, Pasir Ris, Pioneer, Tampines and Yishun.
Another six stations will have their platform furniture reorganised, LTA said. These are Bishan, Buona Vista, City Hall, Jurong East, Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar.
LTA also said more seats will be provided for commuters waiting for trains.
It added that the upgrading works are expected to start in mid-2016 and most of them will be carried out during non-service hours to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
