Doing the responsible thing
THIS WEEK'S TOPIC: What challenges and/or opportunities do you see in sustainability reporting?
Francis Yeoh Managing Director YTL Corporation Group
YTL Group has taken sustainability seriously and commenced reporting in 2006 when we published our first annual sustainability report. Sustainability reporting is a journey for us, and our approach has progressed from philanthropic CSR (corporate social responsibility) to strategic sustainability. Transparency, innovation, risk mitigation and the promotion of best practices internally and among our peers are key opportunities, whereas establishing material issues and balancing stakeholder interests is challenging, but not insurmountable. Communicating with external and internal stakeholders through the reports allows us to engage and establish strong integrity, loyalty and trust. It is the right thing to do.
