There has not been a single event. We find that the biggest impact on our business is the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity in the world today. Like a modern battlefield, the pace of change has accelerated; we have less time to gather relevant information, fewer resources to respond with and a lack of clarity on how our choices are/are not working. Future-proofing employees is mission-critical, innovating our processes and systems while building "bench depth" at every level is the response that we seek.
