WHEN it comes to the popularity and standard of football in the United Kingdom, Scotland plays second fiddle to England, and understandably so.
The game in Scotland has long been in a state of disarray, with a title sponsor yet to be signed and one of the biggest clubs in the country, Rangers, still mired in the second-tier after entering liquidation two years ago.
But things are slowly starting to look up. The sport underwent a major overhaul last year with a merger between the top-tier Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League.
