WHAT makes for great conversation pieces in a home? German carpenter Till-Oliver Kautz believes that apart from crystal chandeliers, artworks and photographs, "good hand-made furniture" does the trick too. Mr Kautz is now based in Singapore, but says that back in Germany, he has built "many dining and coffee tables that are now the centrepieces of homes. Mass produced furniture will probably find it harder to take the spotlight".
