DURING the days when I was running a recruitment business, the Chinese New Year (CNY) period used to be the busiest, given the tendency among employees to jump ship at this time.

We would typically receive more requisitions between New Year and the Chinese New Year than at any other time of year.

Companies would usually start the recruiting engine in advance so that they would already be in fourth gear once the resignation letters hit them.
