Rhododendrons are showy, colourful flowers that bloom in clusters, making them the favourite of gardeners for the sheer brilliant hues of red, pink, yellow and white that brighten up any green space. They are flourishing now in New Zealand but there's no need to book a flight there - Gardens by the Bay's Flower Dome is currently awash with over 80 varieties of blooms to fill up its inaugural Rhododendron Radiance floral display. If you're a floral geek, you'll get to see the 'Mount Loma Prieta' which has bright pink flowers with apricot-yellow centres; 'Meadow Lemon' with red buds that bloom into pale yellow flowers; and 'Sierra Sunset', whose bold blooms combine orange, yellow and cream tones. If you just like pretty flowers, this is a perfect place to get your visual fill.

Rhododendron Radiance floral display is on till Oct 28, at Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay. Admission charge to the conservatories applies.
