WHAT DO YOU do when you've lived in the same apartment for a decade and want to upgrade, but can't find anything of a similar size and in a preferred location? Do what one homeowner did - stay put and overhaul the entire apartment instead.

"Since the owner has lived here for many years, she gave us a detailed brief of what she wanted in her new home," says designer Yeo See Wee, co-founder of Wee Studio.

Top on her list: a brighter private lift lobby, bigger space for entertaining, and more wall space to display her art collection. All that, and an industrial look for her home in Choa Chu Kang.
