Personal data of over 800,000 Singapore blood donors exposed online
HSA vendor used unsecured database on Internet-facing server. Data exposed for 9 weeks until cybersecurity expert saw it
THE personal data of over 800,000 blood donors was exposed online over nine weeks between Jan 4 and March 13 due to improper handling by a vendor, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) announced on Friday.
Information exposed includes the name, NRIC, gender, number of blood donations and dates of the last three donations. In some cases, the donors' blood type, height and weight were also exposed.
The vendor is Secur Solutions Group (SSG).
