Hidden Figures
An unusual photo exhibition is taking place across bus shelters around the island. From now till the end of January, several bus shelters are showcasing in their JCDecaux advertisement panels images of migrant workers posing in front of construction sites, instead of being hidden within the walls and barriers of the sites.
Photographer Sean Cham shot several of such images to remind us of the people who help build our homes, offices and roads year after year. The images, commissioned by the M1 Fringe Festival 2019, draw attention to migrant workers and their contributions to the country. Since 2015, Cham has been documenting the community in different ways. A previous photo series titled Singapore Dream focused on the true ambitions and aspirations of various workers.
