Move over, Samsung and Apple, Google shows it's a serious smartphone contender with the new Pixel 3. Like last year's Pixel 2, the new device's USP is its camera. Despite having just one rear camera instead of the dual setup which has become the norm, photos taken with it are on par with the competition.

That is possible because of the AI which the Android giant has developed specially for the Pixel 3. For instance, close-ups are sharper because computational photography technique traditionally employed for astronomy and scientific imaging is used; and night time shots look bright and detailed even without a flash.

The AI also knows when a bad photo is taken and will recommend a better image with a feature called Top Shot. Pointing the camera at any object will also bring up more information about it with Google Lens.
