Veredus Labs' biochip detects multiple pathogens in single raw beef sample
Singapore
HOMEGROWN biotech company Veredus Laboratories has launched the VereBeef Detection Kit - a chip that can detect multiple types of bacteria in raw beef trim with a single test.
Developed in collaboration with the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and said to be the first such multiple-pathogen detection kit in the food industry, the lab-on-chip test can screen a sample for eight species of bacteria in 11 to 13 hours, compared with 15 to 24 hours in conventional tests for single pathogens.
