Singapore shares close up on Wednesday
SINGAPORE stocks ended higher on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index advancing 0.1 per cent, or 3.02 points to 3,239.1.
Gainers outnumbered losers 203 to 181, or about nine up for every eight down, as some 1.22 billion shares worth S$979.1 million in total changed hands.
The most actively traded counter was Marco Polo Marine with 52.47 million shares traded, easing 6.9 per cent or 0.2 Singapore cent to 2.7 Singapore cents. Other actives included Rex International with 51.82 million units traded, down 4.46 per cent or 0.5 Singapore cent to 10.7 Singapore cents; and Genting Singapore with 40.21 million shares changing hands, up 0.95 per cent or one Singapore cent to S$1.06.
Among active index stocks, DBS slipped 0.04 per cent or one Singapore cent to S$25.83, while UOB added 0.52 per cent, or 14 Singapore cents, to close at S$27.15.
