[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday, boosted by easing fears of a trade war as the White House signalled it would water down plans for contentious metal tariffs.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.95 per cent or 201.53 points to 21,454.25 in early trade while the broader Topix index climbed 0.78 per cent or 13.26 points to 1,717.22.
