Catnip For Cat Lovers

Nobuaki Takekawa, whose Singapore Biennale 2016 installation was one of the event's highlights, has a new showcase at Gillman Barracks gallery Ota Fine Arts involving hundreds of ceramic cats. The quirky show is titled Cat Olympics: In Memory of Torajiro and features countless cats taking part in sporting activities at an opening ceremony stadium, an aquatic centre and a gymnasium. If you're a cat lover, you'll be tickled silly by some of their antics. There are also cat drawings and cat-shaped protest signs, all created in memory of the artist's late cat Torajiro who died in an accident a year ago. While in Gillman Barracks, you should also check out other good shows including the ones at Sullivan+Strumpf and Mizuma Gallery.
Cat Olympics: In Memory of Torajiro is showing at Ota Fine Arts, Gillman Barracks, till Apr 14. Closed on Mondays.
