Republicans in Congress are wasting chance to do right thing on immigration

FOR a fleeting moment on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump seemed to signal he would do the right thing on immigration.

At a 90-minute meeting with congressional Republicans and Democrats, he said he'd be willing to "take the heat" for a broad immigration deal of the sort urgently needed by the country and despised by his hardcore base.
