Hong Kong: Stocks retreat after record close

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Wednesday as profit-takers stepped in a day after the benchmark index saw a record high close.

The Hang Seng slipped 0.34 per cent, or 109.57 points, to 31,795.18.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index inched up 0.06 per cent, or 1.99 points, to 3,438.58 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.16 per cent, or 3.15 points, to 1,924.41.
