Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Friday

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday, shrugging off declines on Wall Street, as Japanese shares were seen lagging behind recent global rallies driven by a bullish outlook for the world economy.

    The Nikkei 225 index gained 0.32 per cent, or 75.92 points, to 23,839.29 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.46 per cent, or 8.55 points, at 1,885.41.
