IN THE eyes of Maureen DeRooij, that Singaporeans gamely belt out a tune during karaoke sessions suggests that there is much fire in the belly, and that keeps her optimistic about Singapore building leaders in the specialisation of international trading.
Ms DeRooij, the chief executive Asia-Pacific of Dutch bank ABN AMRO, is eager to groom more Singaporean talent in this niche, and in fact, appointed a Singaporean as the head of the transportation and logistics sector for the Asia-Pacific late last year.
