With apologies to Frank Sinatra, a minor tweak to the original lyric of a classic song about two strangers falling in love (actual title: Strangers In The Night) and made famous by Ol' Blue Eyes himself, becomes a perfect musical metaphor for The Mountain Between Us, a highly improbable and painfully sappy tale about two opposites stranded on a mountain top after a plane crash.
Sharing a near-death experience has been the catalyst for many a movie romance but as depicted by director Hany Abu-Assad this film, based on the book by Charles Martin with a screenplay by Chris Weitz and J Mills Goodloe, is about as believable as a $3 bill.
