Singapore shares inch up in early trading on Tuesday

SINGAPORE shares edged up slightly in early trading on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index inching up 1.5 points or 0.05 per cent to 3,293.06.

At 9.03 am, gainers outnumbered losers 90 to 44, as some 102.8 million shares worth S$91.6 million changed hands by that time.

Actively traded counters straight out the gate included Singtel, DBS, ST Engineering and Wilmar.

On Wall Street, all three major indices declined on Monday, with the Nasdaq ending nine straight days of gains.
