Tokyo: Stocks open modestly higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened moderately higher on Wednesday after 11 consecutive days of gains, with investors eyeing brisk corporate results as earnings season gets underway.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.13 per cent, or 27.77 points, to 21,363.89 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.04 per cent, or 0.74 points, at 1,724.11.
